I know I shouldn't be working on this day, but that's not how it works in Japan.
Japanese get different holidays.
The two boys tonight, of the age 17 and 18, didn't know of Elton John, The Doors, The Stones,
or Mick Jagger.
They like Kumi Koda. "She's an idol" from Osaka. But, she's about 25 years old, much too old for
these guys.
They also like Mariah Carrey. But, they didn't know that she had a problem with
her wrists.
They would like to learn the "moon walk". But, they didn't know what a "ghetto buster"
was.
They also couldn't relate to Sean Connery. But, they know about Billy Joel.
They don't read: the newspapers, magazines, books, cartoons or internet (in English).
But, they like to read lyrics and textbooks.
They know the song, "Yesterday" by the Beatles. But, they were unable to talk about it.
Hey! Jude! and Honesty by Billy Joel, they were familiar with.
They remember Kotobukiya Department Store, but not Azumaya.
The couldn't remember Daiei, the four theatres that were once in Nobeoka, or the ice or skating
rinks that use to serve Nobeoka.
They weren't aware of the salaries of the retired people of Nobeoka.
But, all in all, we had a good and intense time.
They are smart kids after all!
